Program

The meeting will be held onsite, except for the General Assembly on Day 1 and the Special Lecture on Day 2, which will be held in a hybrid-flexible format, allowing for both onsite and online participation. Details regarding the Zoom information will be provided at a later time.

  • Please pay the participation fee via Peatix (https://psj2024.peatix.com). Payment by cash is not accepted. Participation fee is 1,000 yen for students, 3,000 yen for PSJ members, and 6,000 yen for PSJ non-members (except students). Students of undergraduate and graduate schools must send an image of their student ID by email attachment on the day of the payment. (We promise to delete the image once confirmation is made.) To Onsite Participants

  • Given that lunch break is not long, we recommend that you bring your lunch to the venue.
  • There will be a resting area and an exhibit of books for both days.
  • Smoking is prohibited on campus. Please also refrain from smoking on the streets around campus.

To All Presenters

  • Please bring presentation materials locally in your PC.
  • Please register to the conference early enough for your presentation. If possible, please register on the first day of the meeting.

To the Presenters at the Oral Sessions

  • Presenting time is 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes Q&A. The presentation may be terminated by the chair in case it greatly exceeds the time limit.
  • The projectors at the venue feature HDMI ports. If additional adapters are required, please prepare your own.
  • Please make sure that your device can be connected to the projector during the breaks, prior to your presentation.

To the Presenters at the Poster Session

  • The size of your poster should be vertical A0 (1189 mm high and 841 mm wide).
  • Please include the poster number (e.g., P1, P2) at the top of your poster.
  • Poster presentation takes place on Day 2 (Sunday, September 29), from 12:30 to 13:30 (60 minutes). The core time for odd-numbered posters will be in the first 30 minutes, and the core time for even-numbered posters will be in the latter 30 minutes. Please stay with your poster during the core time.
  • There will be no power supply or projector available at the venue.

Precautions to Prevent the Spread of Infectious Diseases

  • Please refrain from attending the meeting if you have symptoms such as fever, for which an infection is suspected.
  • Please cooperate in taking measures against infectious diseases.
  • In case the spread of infectious disease was confirmed at the meeting, please cooperate in making a contact list.

    Guideline for submission

    1. The presenter must be a member of the Phonetic Society of Japan. Non-members may submit if the first author is a member. The first author must be a member of the society at the time of submission. Please check whether the first author has paid the annual membership fees for the current year at the time of submission. Submission may be cancelled if the membership fees of the first author remain unpaid by the submission deadline.

    2. Only one submission (oral or poster) is permitted as first author.
    3. If the first author is eligible for consideration for an Outstanding Presentation Award (either he/she is a graduate student or younger than 41 years old as of March 31st, 2021), please let us know whether you would like to be considered for this award.
    4. Papers submitted to or scheduled to be submitted to other conferences will not be accepted.
    5. The abstract should include results available at the time of submission. Papers with only experiment plans will not be accepted.
    6. Applicants may choose the presentation type (oral or poster), but if you put a check mark on the “open to change”, the final decision will be made by the committee.
    7. Notification of acceptance will be sent around July 20th, 2021.
    8. If accepted, please submit the full paper in PDF format by Thursday, August 12th, 2021 via the online submission system. Late submission may not be published on the website. Please note that the papers will be uploaded to the website the way they are submitted (i.e., they will not be edited).
    9. The paper format is the same for oral and poster presentations (up to 6 pages on A4 paper).
    10. Languages which can be used for the presentation are limited to Japanese and English. If accepted, please write the paper in the language specified at the time of submission, and give your presentation in that language.
    11. Distribution of additional materials on the day of the presentation is not allowed.
    12. The proceedings will be made public on the PSJ website prior to the conference venue. We will not provide any hard copies.

    Call for Oral/Poster Presentations for the 34th General Meeting of PSJ

    Dear Members of the Phonetics Society of Japan

    The 34th General Meeting of PSJ scheduled to be held at Kobe Gakuin University on September 25th and 26th has been decided to be held online, due to the unpredictable future conditions related to the spread of the coronavirus infection. We will ask all participants to make a real-time presentation using Zoom. In addition, the presentation will be recorded and made available to PSJ members only for a certain period after the event.

    In this way, you will also be able to participate from overseas or from remote areas if you can access the network on the days of the Meeting. Therefore, the deadline for presentation applications will be extended until Friday, July 10. It is a good opportunity for more members as well as non-members to participate than if it were held as a regular national convention. The 35th General Meeting in 2021 will be held at Kobe Gakuin University.
